- Who it helps
- Interpretability researchers comparing the reliability of feature-discovery methods.
- Availability
- The October 16 preprint is public. A packaged implementation and independent reproduction were not established in this review.
The proposed change
It replaces a single linear-encoder pass with sparse coding performed for each sample. The aim is a more stable dictionary of learned features.
ConSDL: making model explanations more consistent across runs ↗
What consistency tells you
Synthetic experiments and four vision/language settings support improved agreement across random seeds. Agreement is useful for repeatability, but it does not by itself prove that a feature has the meaning assigned to it.
ConSDL: making model explanations more consistent across runs ↗
What you can do
- Compare the reported seed-to-seed agreement with evidence about the meaning of each learned feature. Open reference ↗
Where the evidence stops
The study’s benchmarks were not rerun. Interpretations still need evidence beyond consistency between runs.

ConSDL studies why methods that explain a model’s internal representations can produce different feature dictionaries across training runs.
