- Who it helps
- Copilot users and administrators maintaining a stable model configuration.
- Availability
- The October 15 notice applies across Copilot experiences. It lists Opus 4.8, Opus 5 and GPT-5.6 Terra for retirement on November 16; eligible annual individual subscribers retain the stated Opus 4.8 exception.
Check the replacement in your plan
GitHub points to Opus 5.5 and GPT-6.1 Sol or GPT-6 Luna as replacements. Availability and organization policy still determine what a particular user can select.
Prepare before the deadline
Administrators may need to enable replacement models when policy disables them by default. A model change can affect output, so rerun a small set of representative tasks and inspect the results.
