- Who it helps
- People automating simple visible checks and developers evaluating monitoring agents.
- Availability
- The public repository documents browser and desktop paths, local model options and an AGPL-3.0 license. Some notification services need accounts or extra approval; their data leaves the local device.
Separate sensing, deciding and acting
The README exposes three stages: selected sensor input, a model decision and an action. Its examples can include captured images in outbound notifications. Local inference alone therefore does not establish that an entire workflow stays local.
How much the launch test establishes
The creator’s October 15 post reports a median 3.6-second notification time across 27 use cases and 52 prompts, compared with 14.9 seconds for the tested language-model path. These are the creator’s measurements. The same author’s repository and launch post count as one source of experience.
Start with an observable, harmless change
Use an invented page that alternates between “working” and “finished.” Choose a local notification, keep an event log, and include transitions that should produce no alert. Record duplicate, missed and late notifications. Repeat after changing the screen size or partially covering the status.
What you can do
- Review the sensor, model endpoint and notification destination separately. Use a synthetic page and local alert to measure errors before connecting personal screens or messages. Open reference ↗
Where the evidence stops
No screen-monitoring workflow was executed. Creator results do not establish reliability on other screens, and a notification may transmit captured content.

- · Added to Current
Observer connects a screen or camera observation to a small action, such as a local alert when a visible task finishes. Its decision-model mode returns typed probabilities instead of generated prose.
- · Research note
A LocalLLaMA creator report introduces Observer in the decision-model category: systems intended to choose among outcomes rather than generate prose. It is a potentially useful routing/evaluation lead for developers. Only the indexed report was inspected October 16; canonical release artifacts, access requirements and measured reliability remain unverified.
