WebdriverIO v10 connects agent-driven sessions with reusable tests
The release adds persistent command-line sessions and a path from interactive actions to exported regression tests.
Why it matters
Developers can preserve a useful verification sequence after an agent investigates a change. This could improve repeatability when paired with explicit checks of the result.
What to watch
Independent reports on exported-test reliability, session recovery and migration from earlier versions.
Still uncertain. No application test or upgrade was executed here. The feature does not establish that an exported test has sufficient assertions.

- Who it helps
- Developers testing generated changes in browsers, mobile apps or desktop apps.
- Availability
- Version 10 was released October 5. It requires Node.js 22.19 or later; Appium integrations require Appium 3. Device services, cloud testing and model calls can add costs.
Keep application state while investigating
The session command keeps the application connection alive between commands. An agent can inspect a page, take an action and inspect the result without restarting the application each time. Exporting the interaction makes it possible to retain a repeatable test after the investigation.
A completed click needs an assertion
The release also describes resolving an intent-based action with a model and replaying the resulting code. A useful test still needs a check on the final state: for example, a saved invoice must appear with the expected total. Replaying clicks alone does not establish that the task succeeded. This is a testing implication, not a measured claim about the release.

Where the evidence stops
Release notes and session documentation checked; no application was tested. Version 10 changes selector strictness and removes older protocol support, so an existing test suite may need migration.
