- Who it helps
- Developers adding web evidence to enterprise assistants.
- Availability
- Microsoft’s October 17 explanation describes REST and MCP access with Azure consumption billing. It says the service was introduced in June; this is an architecture follow-up, not an October launch.
Retrieve a passage with its context
The described pipeline combines Bing retrieval, semantic representations and passage selection. Its goal is evidence a model can use and a person can inspect. MCP is a tool-connection protocol for exposing that retrieval to an agent.
Coverage and cost need checking
The selected index is deliberately non-exhaustive. An absent result therefore does not establish that a fact or page is absent from the web. Billing depends on consumption and the customer’s Azure arrangement.
