- Who it helps
- Researchers and developers evaluating persistent agent memory.
- Availability
- Version 1 and its abstract are public on arXiv. It is an evaluation study using public ICU records, with no clinical deployment established by this review.
What was compared
The study compares re-reading, caching, rebuilding memory and local graph repair across two 7B models. Its cost accounting includes ingestion, revisions and later uses. On short records, cheaper repair steps still left total memory costs above full re-reading.

How to interpret the result
The replacement study’s four primary confirmatory tests were not statistically significant. The lesson for an evaluation plan is to include a source-filtered re-reading baseline and measure the whole workflow. The abstract does not establish one universally best memory architecture.

What you can do
- For a nonmedical pilot, change one dated policy paragraph and check whether your assistant cites the replacement. Record wrong answers and all processing costs across repeated uses. Open reference ↗
Where the evidence stops
Only the abstract and metadata were reviewed. The experiments were not reproduced, and results from these tasks and models should not be generalized to clinical use or every agent.
Sources read. Primary material was read on October 18, 2026. The external software, account workflow and reported results were not independently executed.

The record over time (1)
Dated source checks and published explanations. An observation date can differ from the original release date.
This October 2 preprint asks what an agent should do when the documents behind its remembered facts are replaced or withdrawn.
