- Who it helps
- Developers and teams practicing careful review of agent-written changes.
- Availability
- The public MIT project documents Node.js 22.19+, Git and macOS, Linux or WSL. A reviewer-model account is required; provider usage can incur charges.
What the checkpoint examines
A separate reviewer model reads the committed change and asks about behavior. The coding conversation is excluded from that review. This can expose a gap between being able to produce a patch and being able to explain its consequences.
What installation changes
The installer changes global Git hooks. The documentation also says local users can bypass the check, and a reviewer model can grade incorrectly. These limits matter when deciding whether to use it for learning or as part of a team process.
What you can do
- Try the prediction exercise in Current’s code-review guide first. If you evaluate Sphinx afterward, inspect its hook scope, data-sharing rules and model-call cap before installing it. Open reference ↗
Where the evidence stops
No Sphinx installation or model session was run. The provider receives code and related context; file-path exclusions cannot detect every secret embedded in ordinary source. A passed questionnaire does not certify code correctness.
Sources read. Primary material was read on October 18, 2026. The external software, account workflow and reported results were not independently executed.

The record over time (1)
Dated source checks and published explanations. An observation date can differ from the original release date.
Sphinx adds questions about a committed code change to the Git push workflow. It asks the person reviewing the change to predict behavior and explain failure cases.
