- Who it helps
- Developers comparing local tools for multi-agent coding.
- Availability
- Early MIT-licensed project for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 26 or later. Supported agent CLIs must be installed and authenticated separately; provider usage can cost extra.
How work moves between agents
A harness is the surrounding software that starts an agent, supplies tools and passes messages. Twine offers implementer/reviewer and planner/worker arrangements, plus custom graphs. Agents explicitly hand work to one another; a process exiting does not automatically count as a completed task. Activation limits stop an endless handoff loop.
A shared folder still needs ownership
For example, a planner can assign one worker a parser and another its tests. If both rewrite the parser, Twine does not isolate those edits or merge them safely for you. Its ownership rules are advisory. Resume support also depends on compatible saved sessions; interrupted output remains available when resuming is impossible.

Where the evidence stops
Documentation checked; no installation or CLI compatibility test was performed. Trace detail varies by agent backend. The tool is interactive and does not provide a headless execution service.

Twine gives several coding agents a shared conversation and a visible workflow. They still edit the same working folder, so coordination does not prevent conflicting file changes.
