- Who it helps
- Researchers comparing retrieval systems and model adaptation.
- Availability
- The October 18 preprint is public. A runnable release, training cost and a supported production integration were not verified in this check.
How the memory enters the model
A predictor learns to produce memory representations from preceding context, supervised by retrieved chunks during training. Gated cross-attention controls how that memory influences the model’s internal computation. The backbone’s weights remain frozen.
Cost claims have a defined setting
The reported reduction in retrieval queries concerns construction of training data. Inference uses the learned memory without explicit retrieval. This leaves a separate question: how much work is needed when the underlying knowledge changes? That update cost was not established here.
