- Who it helps
- Researchers studying model architecture and developers inspecting small base-model releases.
- Availability
- The October 3 report links checkpoints and supplementary artifacts. These are base models with a 16K context specification. The complete training recipe is private.
Read each result in its task context
The report compares six- and nine-expert variants using selected language and code checks. Passing a Python parsing check establishes that text has valid syntax; it does not establish that the program runs correctly.
Separate active parameters, stored parameters and memory needed by the runtime when comparing a sparse model with another release.
What to inspect next as a reader
Start with the evaluation definitions and checkpoint metadata. Write down which prompts and scoring scripts are available before attempting any comparison.
A useful original checklist has four rows: artifact downloadable, license identified, evaluation reproducible, and failure cases described. Leave a row unresolved when its evidence is absent.

Where the evidence stops
The report landing page and creator index were checked. Checkpoints were not downloaded, and no training or evaluation was reproduced.
Sources read. Sources read October 17 UTC. The article distinguishes an inspectable research release from independently measured performance.

The record over time (1)
Dated source checks and published explanations. An observation date can differ from the original release date.
ConeML’s developmental-trajectories report compares small sparse base models with different expert counts. Sparse models activate only part of their parameters for each input.
