- Who it helps
- Teams designing assistants that remember customers, projects or prior work.
- Availability
- The October 20 architecture account and stateful-agent documentation are public. Implementation uses Databricks services including Lakebase; account access and compute or model charges need separate evaluation.
Read and write now, consolidate later
The architecture separates memory used during an active task from later processing that consolidates what should persist. Databricks reports internal performance gains, but this source review did not reproduce them. The design is relevant when a team needs continuity without carrying every old message into every request.
Deleting the session leaves another store to consider
The documentation says deleting a session does not automatically delete durable memories extracted from it. For example, ending a support conversation can leave a remembered customer preference available to the next conversation. A deletion or correction process therefore has to account for both stores.
What you can do
- Read the session and memory lifecycle documentation before deciding which information an assistant should retain. Open reference ↗
Where the evidence stops
Architecture and documentation checked; no Databricks workflow was configured or executed. Memory extraction can preserve an error. Access, total cost and the reported performance gains remain unverified for a specific deployment.

- · Added to Current
Databricks describes MemCurrent as a way for agents to retain useful information across tasks. The practical distinction is between a conversation’s state and facts saved for future conversations.
