- Who it helps
- Developers debugging applications built with the LLM command-line tool.
- Availability
- The public 0.5 release requires LLM 0.36 or newer. It is a simulated echo model; installation and local execution were not performed in this review.
How it works
The release covers simulated usage, tool calls, reasoning and system-message behavior. These fields help inspect plumbing but cannot measure a real model’s reasoning or token billing.
Preserve a request fixture
Build a fictional request with one system instruction and one tool. Compare the echoed structure with your intended request, then preserve that fixture for a separate real-provider integration test.

Where the evidence stops
A passing simulation does not establish provider compatibility or output quality. The release was read without testing its packaging or dependencies.

llm-echo is a debugging plugin that exposes how an application constructs a model request. Version 0.5 adds compatibility and simulated fields useful for testing an integration before paying for inference.
