- Who it helps
- Developers investigating context size and conflicting edits in coding-agent workflows.
- Availability
- The Apache-2.0 project documents version 0.18, Python 3.11+ and Linux or WSL. Its core needs no hosted model. A connected agent’s model charges remain separate.
Keep the original recoverable
Flint packs code, JSON and text into a representation that can recover the original input. Its example measures bytes; language models count tokens differently, so byte savings alone do not establish lower model costs.
Bind an edit to what was read
An edit records the file version it expects. If two agents read a function and one changes it first, the other’s old edit should be rejected and prepared again. The check addresses stale context; it cannot establish that the new logic is correct.
What you can do
- Inspect the README’s compression and stale-edit examples before deciding whether to test it in a disposable project. Open reference ↗
Where the evidence stops
Documentation only: compression reversibility, edit rejection, memory behavior and claimed savings were not executed or independently measured.
Sources read. README checked October 21. Compression, edits and savings were not tested.

Flint: reversible context and version-aware edits ↗
Read the public README, version 0.18 requirements, reversible compression and stale-revision checks. Byte savings in an example are distinct from tokenizer savings. No code was executed.

Flint gives coding agents reversible context compression, focused file reads and edits tied to the version of a file they inspected.
