Attributing a team failure
A skill is a reusable set of instructions available to an agent. GRSE runs a group of attempts with the same library and asks a critic to link outcomes to particular skills and steps. The implementation checks those references and attempts one repair when attribution is invalid. This is intended to avoid rewriting every instruction after a failure.

An edit still has to pass validation
The system aggregates feedback, proposes library edits and evaluates candidates before accepting or rolling them back. The authors report gains on selected multi-hop and long-conversation benchmarks. Those results remain author-reported and do not establish improvement on arbitrary agent teams.

What you can do
- Read the attribution and held-out validation procedure before comparing the method with a simpler instruction-revision baseline. Open reference ↗
Where the evidence stops
Paper and README checked. No model was run, dataset inspected or benchmark reproduced. The critic can misattribute a failure, and the local-model examples have substantial resource requirements.
Sources read. Sources checked October 22, 2026 UTC. No external software workflow, model inference or reported experiment was executed.

Group-Relative Skill Evolution, or GRSE, compares several attempts at a task to decide which reusable instructions helped a team of agents. It updates the skill library while keeping model weights fixed.
