- Programming educators and researchers evaluating AI-assisted practice.

- October 26 paper describes an IntelliJ IDEA plugin and two Java tasks. A supported public installation, current model configuration and operating costs were not verified.
Point to an untested behavior
The plugin combines coverage data, production code and existing tests. Its recommendations identify a behavior, an action and an expected outcome. Students implement the JUnit tests themselves; additional checks review the generated advice.
A small classroom comparison
In a study with 18 students, the general assistant group produced more tests. TestCompass users spent more time developing and verifying tests, with most quality measures comparable. Neither group reported short-term gains in perceived knowledge or confidence.

Where the evidence stops
No plugin run or study replicated. Two tasks and self-reports do not establish retained learning or transfer to unaided testing.
